  2. Clearly this was not made with $0… Maybe they didn’t “spend” any money making it, but they certainly wasted plenty of money on it. I don’t know why it’s become such bragging rights to say a film is on a zero budget. Sure Rodriguez, but how did you get that camera you’re shooting with?

  3. Hard to disagree with previous comment. I also can’t see how anyone demolishing two cars, playing with dollies, crane, steadicam, 5d + nice lenses, some redrock gear, lights etc. can call such production a “zero budget” one.

  4. Because they didn’t SPEND any money on it. Everything, including time and equipment, was donated or previously owned.

It’s not rocket science guys. A NO BUDGET film is one you don’t spend actual cash on.

And as for Rodriguez, how did he get his camera on ‘El Mariachi’? He borrowed it off a friend.

I do agree that it shouldn’t matter what a film costs, except to the people spending the money, but the fact is that the lack of money is what holds some people back, and shorts like this remind us all that we can get some thing done if we ask other people nicely. :)

  5. maybe its just me…but with all the destroyed cars and guns and people…how on earth did they do this with a zero budget? I guess people don’t count the props or camera…or did they borrow everything or have it donated or what?? Just asking…
