Product Review – Kessler Crane KC Lite | Cobra Crane Track and Dolly
Below is a complete list of pros/cons for each rig.
Kessler Crane KC Lite Pros:
- Incredibly sturdy.
- Easy to assemble with two people.
- Easy to operate and counter-balance.
- Great reach of arm – provides a cinematic edge to any shot.
KC Lite Cons:
- The complete package with tripod and floor dolly can get pricey ($599.95).
- Need to buy a 10lb weight separately to counterbalance.
- Carrying case not included – which makes transportation difficult.
- Long arm can make it difficult to focus and frame shots.
- No pan capability in the head.
Cobra Crane Track and Dolly Pros:
- Incredibly smooth ride.
- Good length of track for the majority of situations.
- PVC piping is very sturdy.
- Designed so one person can operate.
Track and Dolly Cons:
- Similar to the KC Lite it can get pricey ($449).
- Dolly can be a little light at times and we felt it could benefit from a little added weight.
- No carrying case included – and without it almost impossible to transport.
Update: Carrying case for the dolly and track arrived today and is designed beautifully. The case doubles as a backpack – which is a heck of a lot easier than carrying the track in your hands. Definitely worth the money.
